It consists of pre-course tasks, half a day of on-court practice and half a day conducted in a classroom setting, covering both theoretical and practical aspects of refereeing. Due to the impact of COVID-19, our 16-hour new referee course has been placed on temporary hold. We are exploring options to train officials for the fall on a limited basis. We expect full in-person training in February/March of 2022.
Here is a general outline of the steps required to become a USAV certified referee: Become a member of the New England Region of USA Volleyball. NOTE: To referee USAV events, you will also need to have passed a USAV background check and complete the SafeSport Training as mandated by the USOC. Through the USAV online training program (not in place right now), register for and view the New Referee Training materials, which includes a referee exam (can be done open book).
The FA Referee Course is designed to equip new referees with the key skills and knowledge they will need to be able to referee grassroots football matches safely and effectively. It is for people aged 14 and over who want to referee mini soccer, 9 v 9 and/or 11 v 11 football. The course comprises online learning on the Laws of the Game and face to face training.
Volleyball Referee Training. To become a referee in volleyball at the high school level you will need to pass a written test to demonstrate your understanding of the rules. In most cases this test may be created by the National Federation of High School Associations.The passing grade for the NFHS test is 75%.
